All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full. |

| Whereas five umbrella organizations, Black Student Union, Movimiento Estudiantil Chican@ de Aztlan, Asian Pacific Student Association, American Indian Student Association, and Alyansa ng mga Kababayan, founded the Cross Cultural Center (CCC); and Whereas these five umbrella organizations have existed for decades representing historically marginalized communities and continue to serve the interests of their respective communities; and
Whereas they have many constituent organizations also affiliated with the Cross Cultural Center; and
Whereas they have historically shown support and solidarity with multicultural organizations not directly under their constituencies; and
Whereas ASUCI's Student Programming Funding Board (SPFB) provides funding to subsidize many student organizations registered under the Office of Student Life and Leadership; and
Whereas the SPFB membership has historically included one CCC representative with one vote on the nine voting member board; and
Whereas the current SPFB by-laws states in Section C: Membership that the CCC representative is “appointed by the umbrella council.”; and
Whereas the “umbrella council”, composed of the five umbrella organizations, does not meet in an official capacity; and
Whereas the umbrella organizations each have functioning executive boards; and
Whereas it is vital for CCC affiliated organizations and constituencies to continue having a voice on SPFB for both historical and contemporary reasons; and
Let it therefore be resolved that Section C: Membership of the SPFB By-Laws be amended with the changes shown below in bold:
(C) Membership:
The Board shall consist of Nine (9) members made up as follows:
1) The ASUCI President or another Executive Officer.
1) Legislative Council Finance Chair.
1) Legislative Council Public Info Chair.
1) Legislative Council Rules Chair.
1) Legislative Council Committees Chair
1) Cross Cultural Center member appointed by a majority of the five umbrella organization boards.
3) Student At-large member appointed by Legislative Council.
And the Undergraduate Student Programming Commissioner (non-voting) appointed by the Office of the President, and approved by the Legislative Council
Let it further be resolved that Section (D) Requirements of the SPFB By-Laws be amended with the changes shown below in bold: * The Cross Cultural Center member must be selected by the end of Week 5 of the new academic year Let it further be resolved that an exception be made for the 2013-2014 academic year and; Let it finally be resolved that the umbrella organizations must appoint the CCC member by Week 7. |
