REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: UCI New Narratives Meeting

Whereas it is the duty of Legislative Council to serve as advocates for the student body; and

Whereas campus climate is a critical component of student body well-being; and

 

Whereas the UCI Office of Student Affairs plays an important campus role in relation to the experiences of UCI students; and

 

Whereas all student leaders, including ASUCI, should proactively engage in improving campus climate; and

 

Whereas the Office of Student Affairs is hosting “Shaping New Narratives” Thursday November 7, 5-7pm, the first of many events to discuss campus climate; and

 

Whereas this event will include Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Thomas Parham and three UCI professors of ethnic studies; and

 

Whereas it is vital for ASUCI representatives to gain a stronger understanding of UCI intergroup relations as well as add their voices to the conversation; and

 

Let it be resolved that contingent on Legislative Council New Business on November 7th, 2013 is completed in a timely manner that the November 7th, 2013 Legislative Council meeting be amended from its regular agenda, and add the agenda item “UCI Shaping New Narratives”; and

 

Let it be further resolved that the Legislative Council meeting location be changed from Woods Cove to Pacific Ballroom D; and


Let it finally be resolved that in the presence of important campus figures, Legislative Council members and Executive Officers will commit to attend the event and participate in the learning process.
