All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full. |

| Synopsis: ASUCI SOLIDARITY WITH AFSCME STRIKE | |

Whereas, on November 20th the American Federation of State and Municipal Employees 3299 will host a day-long Unfair Labor Practice strike at every University of California medical center and campus;
Whereas, after the Patient Care Technician strike at University of California Medical May 21st through the 22nd, UC management has used illegal tactics to intimidate employees who sought to strike or are affiliated with AFSCME 3299;
Whereas, the Public Employment Relations Board ruled [1] that the University of California has committed unfair labor practices surrounding the aforementioned strike;
Whereas, these tactics include denying workers their right to participate in the union, using scare tactics to prevent striking, and other illegal tactics that infringe on workers’ rights;
Whereas, the United Auto Workers 2865 (UAW) will sympathy strike with AFSCME 3299 (AFSCME);
Whereas, UAW consists of academic student employees that include teachers assistants and readers;
Whereas, sympathy strikes, boycotts, and other actions are held in order to show support;
Whereas, Legislative Council has recently formalized support for service workers and patient care workers in Resolution 49-13 Legislation in Support of AFSCME and Their Workers;
Let it be resolved, that ASUCI executive offices, judicial board, and legislative council members are strongly urged not perform their duties in the ASUCI office on Wednesday, November 20th;
Let it be further resolved, that it is strongly urged that ASUCI will conduct all business necessary on November 20th at the AFSCME strike at the flagpoles;
Let it further be resolved, it is strongly urged that ASUCI executive officers will not hold any meetings with administration on this day, due to pledged support for AFSCME and other workers;
Let it finally be resolved, that the ASUCI Executive Vice President is strongly urged release a statement on ASUCI media to communicate this stance.
