REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Office of Academic Affairs Commissioner Appointment
Date of Presentation: October 16th, 2014
 

Whereas, the University of California, Irvine, academic year has begun, and multiple students have been appointed to be a part of the staff in the Office of the Academic Affairs Vice President,

 

Whereas, applications for commissioner and intern positions were publicized onto the ASUCI website (www.asuci.uci.edu),

 

Whereas, there are seven commissions within the Office of Academic Affairs, which are:

·       Chief of Staff

·       Anteater Mentorship Program

·       Visions Leadership Course

·       Speakers and Debate Lecture Series

·       Internal Publicity

·       Academic Senate

·       Academic Engagement

 

Whereas, the Academic Affairs Vice President for the 2014-2015 year, Nikki Kathuria, conducted interviews for intern and commissioner positions during the end of Spring Quarter 2014,

 

Whereas, confirmation and rejection letters were sent at the end of Spring Quarter 2014,

 

Whereas, it is customary for the appointments of an Executive Officer to be approved by the Legislative Council (Article IV, Section B, Subsection 3),

 

Whereas, the appointments of these commissioners is contingent with the auditing process as well,

 

Therefore, let is be resolved that the following students be confirmed in their titles commissioners for the Office of Academic Affairs Vice President and be afforded all privileges associated with such appointments:

 

·      Chief of Staff—Kevin Trinh

·      Chief of Staff—Trisha In

·      Antleader Mentorship Program—Chelsea Sangalang

·      Antleader Mentorship Program—Derek de los Angeles

·      Visions Leadership Course—Allan Do

·      Visions Leadership Course—Cecilia Dang

·      Speakers and Debate Lecture Series—Jeavin Yu

·      Internal Publicity—Anthony Pham

·      Academic Senate—Daniel Ho

·      Academic Senate—Majde Al Salibi

·      Academic Engagement—Elvis Leng
