All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Office of Student Services Chief of Staff and Commissioner Appointment
Date of Presentation: October 30th, 2014
 

Whereas, the University of California, Irvine, academic year has begun, and multiple students have been appointed to be a part of the staff in the Office of the Student Services Vice President,

 

Whereas, applications for chief of staff and commissioner positions were publicized onto the ASUCI website (www.asuci.uci.edu),

 

Whereas, there are chief of staff and seven commissions within the Office of Student Services, which are:

·       Chief of Staff

·       Athletics

·       Business Marketing

·       Club Outreach

·       Concerts

·       Festivals

·       Films

·       Soulstice

 

Whereas, the Student Services Vice President for the 2014-2015 year, Joshua Nguyen, conducted interviews for commissioner positions during the end of Spring Quarter 2014,

 

Whereas, confirmation and rejection letters were sent at the end of Spring Quarter 2014,

 

Whereas, it is customary for the appointments of an Executive Officer to be approved by the Legislative Council (Article IV, Section B, Subsection 3),

 

Whereas, the appointments of these chief of staff and commissioners are contingent with the auditing process as well,

 

Therefore, let it be resolved that the following students be confirmed in their titles commissioners for the Office of Student Services Vice President and be afforded all privileges associated with such appointments:

 

·      Chief of Staff—Tatiana Sarkhosh

·      Chief of Staff—Jessica Shelton

·      Athletics Commissioner—Brent Ida
·      Business Marketing Commissioner—Laureen Ma

·      Club Outreach Commissioner—Richard Demery

·      Concerts Commissioner—Aaron Liang

·      Festivals Commissioner—Victoria Phan

·      Films Commissioner—Nicole Dizon

·      Soulstice Executive Director—Junior Lagade

·      Soulstice Executive Producer—Vivian Cheong
