REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Reaffirmation of R49-39 and R49-40
Date of Presentation: February 24th, 2015
 

 Whereas the ASUCI Constitution Committee is currently finishing its work in revising and amending the ASUCI Constitution, and

Whereas the new ASUCI Constitution will hopefully be presented to students during Spring Elections, and 

Whereas ASUCI is currently in the process of hiring a new Executive Director, and 

Whereas ASUCI will also be presenting students to the MyUCI Fee referendum during Spring Elections, and

Whereas in these changing times it is of critical importance to reaffirm the values expressed in R49-39 (ASUCI Services Budget Guidelines) and R49-40 (ASUCI Services Budget Reallocation Act) which state

  • Whereas ASUCI maintains control of, but not limited to, services such as Vendor Fair, Anteater Express, and Discount Tickets,
  • Whereas, ASUCI will continue to house and control these functions,
  • Whereas, Student Government Professional Staff works for Student Government,
  • Let it be resolved that, all functions, including budgets and accounting, stay within the ASUCI ledger and system,
  • Let it further be resolved that, Student Government Professional Staff will keep all ASUCI budgets within ASUCI.

and, 

  • Whereas ASUCI Legislative Council has the power to “appropriate all ASUCI fee income” as stated in Article IV, Section B, subsection 2.
  •  Whereas all ASUCI services fall within the ASUCI budget,
  •  Whereas ASUCI Legislative Council is able to appropriate all ASUCI funds including services provided by ASUCI,
  •  Let it be resolved that, any parts of ASUCI budgets, including but not limited to, Anteater Express, Referendums, Vendor Fair, must remain within ASUCI accounts,
  •  Let it further be resolved that, any attempts to move any part of ASUCI budgets without Legislative and Executive approval will be met with contempt,
  • Let it finally be resolved that, if, for some reason, part of the ASUCI budget is removed from ASUCI, it will be defunded and the money will come back into the ASUCI Contingency Account, until the service or area of the budget is returned to ASUCI.

and, 

Let it be resolved that ASUCI Legislative Council formally reaffirms the above resolutions in order to maintain ASUCI's values and essential operations.
