REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Appointment of Associate Justice to Judicial Board
Date of Presentation: March 10th, 2015
 

 Whereas there is currently a vacant seat on the ASUCI Judicial Board,

 Whereas, judicial propriety calls for the appointment of new justices to fill the Judicial Board with all possible haste so as to allow proper training,

 Whereas the ASUCI Constitution lays out specific deadlines for the nomination and confirmation of new justices (ASUCI Constitution Article 6, Section C, Clause 1),

 Whereas, the ASUCI Constitution in Article VI, Section C, Clause 3 states: “In the event that the Executive Cabinet fails to submit a nomination(s) to the Legislative Council within (2) weeks of the occurrence of a vacancy, nominations may be made by any ASUCI elected representative,”

 Whereas, after reviewing the submitted applications of the applicant, Alvin Phan (ASUCI Legislative Council) find Samuel Grubbs qualified to serve on the Judicial Board and recommend them for an interview to the ASUCI Legislative Council,

 Whereas, the ASUCI Legislative Council convened on April 2nd, 2015 to interview and debate upon Samuel Grubbs,

 Whereas ASUCI Legislative Council recommends the appointment of Samuel Grubbs to serve as Associate Justice on the ASUCI Judicial Board,

 Therefore, let it be resolved that Samuel Grubbs be appointed to a seat on the Judicial Board for two years (from the start of their term, seven days after the passage of this legislation).
