REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Appointment of At-Large Representative
Date of Presentation: May 21st, 2015
 

 Whereas, there is currently an open seat for the At-Large Representative, and

Whereas, it is the duty and responsibility of the ASUCI Legislative Council outlined in the Constitution and the Legislative Council By-Laws to fill any vacancies by appointment,

Whereas, per the spring elections, Matthew Carlson was elected by the student body to serve as an At-Large Representative for the 2015-16 academic year,

Whereas, the Rules Committee believes that this procedure of appointment follows the precedent set by ASUCI Judicial Board rulings on R50-07 and R50-27, specifically regarding the appointment process within ASUCI Legislative Council, it is within the Rules Committee's belief that this student was duly elected by the student body and thus is elgible to serve on Council,

Whereas, it is critical to the operations of Legislative Council to appoint students to vacant seats on Legislative Council and it is crucial that this appointment process is done as soon as possible,

Whereas ASUCI Legislative Council has voted to appoint Matthew Carlson to the open At-Large Representative Seat,

Therefore, let it be resolved that Matthew Carlson be duly appointed to the open At-Large Representative seat on ASUCI Legislative Council until the end of Spring Quarter 2015.
