REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: ASUCI By-Law Amendments: Agenda Amendments Act

Whereas, the structure of the Legislative Council Meeting’s Agenda is set through the ASUCI By-Laws,

 

Whereas it is the responsibility of the rules committee as per the By-Laws to "review and revise the Council By-Laws, Elections Code, and Judicial Board Procedures" (XI. RULES COMMITTEE - section A-1-a), and

 

Whereas, Council meetings tend to have the most guests towards the beginning of the meeting and guest attendance dwindles as the meeting elapses,

 

Whereas it is essential for members of the public to stay informed as to updates within ASUCI,

 

Whereas these changes would also make it easier for Executive Cabinet members to give reports,

 Whereas, these changes would allow Council to be informed on updates with the Legislative Council Intern Program,

Whereas, there has been often a need for committees to send legislation to the floor after committee time for councils immediate consideration,

 

Whereas, depending on the regulations of individual Ad-Hoc/Special Committees, their chairs may be unable to stay at a Council meeting for its’ entire duration and need to give a report at the beginning,

 

Therefore let it be resolved that Article 8, Agenda, Section A be revised from:

  1. The Agenda shall consist of the following

    2. Public Comment

    3. Old Business

    4. New Business

    5. Officer Reports

    6. Special Committee Reports

    7. Committee Reports

    8. Announcements

    9. Adjournment
