REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Creation of Constitutional Revision Ad-Hoc Commitee

 Whereas, Article IV, Section B, Item 10 states, “[The authority of Legislative Council shall include, but is not limited to] Establish standing or ad hoc committees, i.e. Rules, Finance, Public Information, Special Task Forces, to assist in any legislative recommendations.”, and

 

Whereas, ad hoc committees have been created by Legislative Council to address various issues affecting the students, and

 

Whereas, the ASUCI Constitution has not been revised over a decade (even with multiple failed attempts to revise it over the past decade) and the Legislative Council believes that the ASUCI Constitution is currently outdated and is in need of revisions and amendments,

 

Therefore, let it be resolved that an ad hoc committee be created, chaired by Alvin Phan (ASUCI Legislative Council), vice-chaired by Ariel Barnoy (ASUCI Legislative Council) that is responsible for listening to student input in order to draft a version of the ASUCI Constitution to be amended through the processes outlined in Article X of the ASUCI Constitution, and

 

Let it further be resolved that this committee will meet weekly in a location open for UCI undergraduates and members of ASUCI to attend, and

 

Let it further be resolved that this committee be named the “Constitutional Revision Committee”.
