WHEREAS, the University of California, Irvine has implemented a 19.5 hour a week maximum cap on student work hours;
WHEREAS, many students are forced to take on multiple jobs outside of campus to subsidize for the lack of hours;
WHEREAS, the students who work on campus are given minimal hours which are not enough to sustain themselves;
WHEREAS, this regulation made by administrators meant to improve student life in fact deteriorates student lives;
WHEREAS, this 19.5 hour cap benefits administrators only as they do not have to give students who work less than 20 hours benefits like full-time employees;
WHEREAS, student workers from across a spectrum of departments on campus agree that this cap hinders their well being;
THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED, that Legislative Council support ASUCI in their efforts to raise or dispose of the 19.5 hour cap that affects many student workers on campus;
