All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full. |

| Whereas, there are numerous costs incurred by students as a proximate result of attendance at the University of California, Irvine;
WHEREAS, many of the above referenced costs, including tuition, are imposed by the
WHEREAS, proposed tuition increases by the University of California are often met with great resistance by its student body;
WHEREAS, the University of California Board of Regents has repeatedly cited inflation as a rationale for raising tuition;
WHEREAS, the University of California should be transparent in its bases for increases in student fees;
WHEREAS, the University of California is an institution of higher learning and should strive
WHEREAS, it is a widely held belief among educated economists that
WHEREAS, INDEXING student fees would increase the transparency of the University of California, bespeak the renown of the UC system as a leader in judicious academic policy, and ensure accurate increases in student fees proportional to inflation: Now, therefore, be it
Resolved, that the ASUCI Legislative Council implores the University of California Board of Regents, President of the University of California, and the University of California, in its entirety, to implement the INDEXING of all fees imposed upon students as a consequence of attending the University of California; and
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the ASUCI Legislative Council encourages the University of California Student Association (UCSA) and all other student government associations of the University of California to adopt similar positions. |
