REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Elections Code Reform Committee

Whereas the elections code has not been updated since 2012,

Whereas, the election codes have become increasingly inefficient in recent years and are prone to cause several unnecessary confusions and disagreements,

Whereas these confusions have hindered the elections process and procedure and caused many cases to be brought up in recent years,

Let it be resolved, that the ASUCI Legislative Council forms an ad-hoc committee, which will be constituted by the legislative council rules committee, and will be responsible for holding public hearings to hear the public input and use the gathered information to draft a new and updated version of the ASUCI Elections Code. 

Let it be resolved that the following individuals will be the default members of this Ad hoc committee:

Hannah Tompkins, Chair

Brittany Nguyen, Elections Commissioner

Siddharth Baranwal, Legislative Council Representative

Tin Hong, Legislative Council Representative

Parshan Khosravi, Executive Cabinet Representative

Aaron Echols, Professional Staff Ex-Officio Representative

Annette Lee, Judicial Board Representative

Brennan Gonering, Constitutional Revision Committee Representative

 

Let it be resolved that in the case that any of the designated individuals, besides the chair of the committee, do not attend the meeting, they may appoint a proxy to send in their place for the purposes on advocating on issues on their behalf and ensuring their representation,

Let it also be resolved that this committee will meet weekly in a location open to UCI undergraduates and ASUCI members to attend, and 

Let it finally be resolved that this committee be named the “Elections Revision Committee.”
