Whereas, ASUCI is a department of UCI and,

Whereas, ASUCI represents the undergraduate student body to UCI and the world and,

Whereas, ASUCI has a responsibility to transfer its records to preserve the story of UCI students and ASUCI to the Univerrchives and,

Whereas, there is currently no system in place to turn over ASUCI records annually and,

Whereas, the failure to preserve ASUCI records leads to institutional amnesia and the loss of ASUCI history as every executive officer leaves their position and,

Let it be resolved that the ASUCI Legislative Council recommends the executive branch of ASUCI create and organize a system to transfer records of long-term value to the University Archives, a collection of UCI Libraries Special Collections & Archives every year and,

Let it be resolved that the ASUCI Legislative Council calls for this system to be implemented before the 2016 - 2017 executive officers are sworn into office and,

Let it be resolved that the ASUCI Legislative Council favors outlining in the ASUCI Bylaws that before the end of every executive officer’s term, every year, all historically valuable material from their office be transferred to the University Archives for the purposes of preservation and access and,

Let it be resolved that a copy of this legislation be send to Parshan Khosravi, ASUCI President; Kristine Jermakian, Executive Vice President; Alexander Fung, Administrative Affairs Vice President; Elvis Leng, Academic Affairs Vice President; Nicole Dizon, Student Services Vice President; and Laura Jackson, UCI Archivist.
