REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE ASUCI SENATE 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the President of the Senate no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The President of the Senate reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Senate session if the President of the Senate feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: By-laws Amendment: Judicial Board Vacancies

Whereas, the Executive Cabinet has the ability to interview and appoint Judicial Board vacant seats within a week of their vacancy,

Whereas, the case where the Judicial Board is unable to move forward without the prompt appointments of Judicial Board vacancies,

Whereas, the Senate currently does not have the ability to interview and appoint Judicial Board vacant seats within a week of their vacancy,

Whereas, there is no set protocol to appoint judicial vacancies in a timely manner,

Let it be resolved, that the ASUCI By-Laws be amended as follows:

 

Article III Membership Provisions, Section E, Subsection 6, Provisions a, b, and c be added to read:

 

“In the event of Judicial Board vacancies:

 

a) The Executive Branch shall have one business day after a Judicial vacancy is announced to post applications and has two weeks total to review and interview applicants,

 

b)The Executive Branch has a week from when all applications are submitted to review applications,

 

c) The Executive Branch has a week from when all applications are reviewed

to interview selected applicants in order to select a candidate for a Judicial Board vacancy,

 

d)The Senate reserves the right to interview and appoint the vacancy in the

event that the Executive Branch does not fulfill this duty within this timeframe”
