REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE ASUCI SENATE |

All requests may be typed and submitted to the President of the Senate no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The President of the Senate reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Senate session if the President of the Senate feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full. |

| Synopsis: Call for a Special Election | |

| Whereas, the Senate is the representative body of undergraduates to the Associated Students of the University of California, Irvine (ASUCI) and,
Whereas, the Senate is currently operating with 19 Senators out of 30 total seats and,
Whereas, one-third of Senate seats are vacant and,
Whereas, under Article 6. Section 1. Subsection (d)(1), "Senate may call a special election to fill the seat" and,
Whereas, when it is possible for students to give their voice as to the selection of their representative, it should be undertaken and,
Let it therefore be resolved, that the ASUCI Senate calls for a Special Election to fill all vacant seats on Senate, at a date to be determined by Elections Commission and,
Let it also be resolved, that the First Year special interest seat will be filled by appointment as no candidate can currently fulfill the GPA requirement. |
