REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE ASUCI SENATE 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the President of the Senate no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The President of the Senate reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Senate session if the President of the Senate feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: By-Laws Amendment: Freshman Special Interest Requirements

 Whereas, the ASUCI Elections Code stipulates that a first year holds a special interest position on the Senate,

 
Whereas, the ASUCI Elections Code states that only a first year can be appointed to represent first year students, 
 
Whereas, first years are currently unable to run during spring elections to fulfill this position,
 
Let it be resolved that, Article III, section A, subsection 1, provision c be added to the ASUCI By-laws to read:

“Appointed senators that represent the first year special interest group shall begin their terms in the winter quarter of their first year. They will term out at the end of the following fall quarter.”
