REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE ASUCI SENATE 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the President of the Senate no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The President of the Senate reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Senate session if the President of the Senate feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Appointment of chief of staff and legislative affairs co-directors

Whereas, The chief of staff for the External Vice President’s office in ASUCI was let go at the end of winter quarter, creating a vacancy in that position;

 

Whereas, The legislative affairs commission is under the External Vice President’s office of ASUCI;

 

Whereas, Article 6, section 2(k) of the ASUCI Constitution requires the ASUCI Senate to consider and possibly confirm any appointments made by Executive Officers to paid positions;

 

Whereas, The External Vice President believes that at this point in the academic year, appointments to fill the positions for the remainder of the year should come from within the current EVP staff;

 

Whereas, The External Vice President nominates Brennan Gonering as chief of staff;

 

Whereas, Appointing Brennan Gonering as chief of staff would create a vacancy in the position of legislative affairs director;

 

Whereas, Nikki Dalupang and Annie Nguyen have been serving as co-assistant legislative affairs directors since winter quarter; and

 

Whereas, The External Vice President nominates Nikki Dalupang and Annie Nguyen as legislative affairs co-directors; therefore let it be

 

Resolved, That the nomination of Brennan Gonering to the position of EVP chief of staff be confirmed by the ASUCI Senate, to serve for the remainder of the 2016-2017 academic year;

 

Resolved, That the nomination of Nikki Dalupang to the position of legislative affairs co-director in EVP be confirmed by the ASUCI Senate, to serve for the remainder of the 2016-2017 academic year; and


Resolved, That the nomination of Annie Nguyen to the position of legislative affairs co-director in EVP be confirmed by the ASUCI Senate, to serve for the remainder of the 2016-2017 academic year.
