REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE ASUCI SENATE 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the President of the Senate no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The President of the Senate reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Senate session if the President of the Senate feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Creation of the Assistant to the Business Senator Position

Whereas, the position of ASUCI Business Senator has only one seat,

 

Whereas, the Undergraduate Business Administration student population is six-hundred forty six (646) as of Fall 2016,

 

Whereas, the Business Information and Management (BIM) Undergraduate population is 129 students and the Business Economics Undergraduate population is 1,968 as of Fall 2016,

 

Whereas, the BIM and Business Economic Undergraduates are not directly under UCI’s Business School Department, but many are members of Business organizations and participate in many of the department’s activities and events,

 

Whereas, there are fifteen (15)  Business organizations on campus, including three business fraternities, that are recognized by the Undergraduate Business School Department,

 

Whereas, the amount of work necessary to serve and communicate with the Undergraduate population of UCI’s Business Department surpasses the ability of one person,

 

Whereas, involving more business undergraduates to ASUCI will increase UCI’s Business Department’s involvement with ASUCI,

 

Whereas, it is possible that none of the Senate interns are a Business Administration undergraduate, and thus not know the needs and system UCI’s Business Department operates under,

 

Let it be resolved that the Business Senator may appoint a Business Administration undergraduate as the Assistant to the ASUCI Business Senator,

 

Let it further be resolved that the ASUCI recognizes the position title of the Assistant to the Business Senator

 

Let it be resolved that the ASUCI Business Senator and the Assistant to the ASUCI Business Senator will meet weekly to discuss plans for the UCI Undergraduate Business Department and to discuss ASUCI Senate related topics.

 

Let it be resolved that this position expires at the end of Spring Quarter 2017,

 

 

Let it finally be resolved that Julie Lim, the current ASCUI Business Senator, appoints Isaac Rubalcava to fill the position of the Assistant to the ASUCI Business Senator.
