REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE ASUCI SENATE 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the President of the Senate no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The President of the Senate reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Senate session if the President of the Senate feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Providing Campus Maps in Different Languages

Whereas, the ranking of the University of California, Irvine increases every year, and the University of California, Irvine becomes more and more famous worldwide.

Whereas, a growing number of international visitors(including students and their parents) visit UCI campus.

Whereas, most of them are not capable of speaking nor reading English.

Whereas, the campus tours and the campus maps are offered in English, and this has caused inconvenience for international visitors. 

Therefore, offering campus maps in multiple languages will better accommodate international visitors.

Whereas, the campus tours and the campus maps provided through UCI admissions department are offered in English, and this has caused inconvenience for international visitors.

According to statistics from International Centre of the University of California, Irvine, top 5 spoken languages of international visitors are Chinese, Korean, Arabic, Vietnamese, and Spanish.

Let it resolve by providing campus maps in Chinese, Korean, Arabic, Vietnamese, and Spanish to assist non-English speakers during their visits in the University of California, Irvine.

Let it be resolved that UCI Admissions department should assume responsibility for the creation and distribution of such resources
