REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE ASUCI SENATE 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the President of the Senate no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The President of the Senate reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Senate session if the President of the Senate feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: By-Laws Amendment: Clarification of ASUCI Senate Quorum

Whereas, a set of clearly written By-Laws being necessary for the functionality of the ASUCI, and

Whereas, Article 4, Section A, Subsection 2, Provision B of the ASUCI By-Laws states that,

"A quorum shall represent fifty percent (50%) plus one (1) of a total Committee's members," and

Whereas, Article 3, Section B, Subsection 12 and Article 6, Section E, Subsection 1 of the ASUCI By-Laws both state that,

"A quorum of the Senate shall be a majority of its filled Senate seats or 50 percent of sitting Senators plus one (1) additional Senator," and

Whereas, a majority of filled Senate seats does not always equate to 50 percent of sitting Senators plus one (1) additional Senator,

Therefore, let it be resolved that Article 3, Section B, Subsection 12 and Article 6, Section E, Subsection 1 of the ASUCI By-Laws be amended to read,

"A quorum of the Senate shall be a majority of its filled Senate seats," and

Therefore, let it further be resolved that Article 4, Section A, Subsection 2, Provision B of the ASUCI By-Laws be amended to read,

"A quorum shall represent a majority of a total Committee's members."
