Whereas, it is the duty of each ASUCI Senator to represent the students of their respective academic departments,

Whereas, it is the responsibility of each ASUCI Senator to advocate for student opportunities in their department and UC Irvine at large,

Whereas, The Paul Merage School of Business has several Centers of Excellence, with the intention to connect the Business Department to the greater community,

Whereas, Senator Julie Lim of The Paul Merage School of Business seeks to bring forward educational business opportunities to all students of the University of California, Irvine,

Whereas, many Business majors requested for more hands-on, applicable, and practical experiences,

Whereas, many students outside the Business Department have asked for opportunities to be involved in the Business Department and business community,

Whereas the UCI Stock Market Competition is open and free of charge to all undergraduate majors and all levels of experience,

Whereas, financial literacy and wealth management is necessary for all people,

Whereas the competition's focus is on education through offering workshops and office hours throughout the year,

Whereas, The Paul Merage School of Business Center for Investment and Wealth Management (CIWM) shares the vision of Senator Julie Lim, and therefore fully supports the effort of Senator Julie Lim and has connected her efforts with the corporations Affinity Investment Advisors and Aristotle Capital Management as corporate sponsors,

Whereas, The UC Irvine Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF) also supports this stock market competition,

Let it be resolved that ASUCI recognizes the “UCI Inaugural Stock Market Competition” brought by ASUCI Business Senator Julie Lim and the CIWM as an opportunity for all UC Irvine students to gain financial literacy.
