REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE ASUCI SENATE 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the President of the Senate no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The President of the Senate reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Senate session if the President of the Senate feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Whereas, the paperwork burden on the President of the Senate may be overwhelming for a single person and,

 

Whereas, a Chief of Staff can help a President of the Senate better focus and manage their time and,

 

Whereas, there is currently no formal language currently detailing any such position and,

 

Let it be resolved that, Article IV of the ASUCI By-laws be amended to add a new Section B that shall state:

 

B. Senate Chief of Staff:

 

  1. The Senate Chief of Staff is to be nominated by the President of the Senate in accordance with University Personnel Regulations, and appointed by a simple majority of the voting Senators present.  The Senate may request an interview with the nominee if desired.

  2. The Senate Chief of Staff is a paid position and shall have the same internal access to the ASUCI website and other record-keeping documents as the President of the Senate.

  3. The Senate Chief of Staff may serve as a representative of the President of the Senate when requested.

  4. The Senate Chief of Staff shall perform whatever other duties specified by the President of the Senate.

 

Let it finally be resolved that the current Article IV, Section B and Section C be relettered to become Article IV, Section C and D, respectively.
