REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE ASUCI SENATE 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the President of the Senate no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The President of the Senate reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Senate session if the President of the Senate feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Whereas, the current Elections Code do not define the words borrowed goods and,

 

Whereas, this is a source of conflict and,

 

Whereas, the Judicial Board has stated that it would like the words clarified and,

 

Let it be resolved that Article XVII. Donations, Section A be changed from “In conformity with the laws of the State of California and the policies of UCI, campaign candidates, with the exception of referendum representatives, may not receive funding from the University, its departments, or Associated Students funds. For the purposes of this Code, the term “donor” means any individual (except an immediate family member) or organization who makes any monetary or non-monetary contributions including goods but not including services rendered, up to $75, to a candidate. All referendum representatives shall be exempt of this $75 limit.”

  1. For the purposes of this Code, the term “donor” means any individual (except an immediate family member) or organization who makes any monetary or non-monetary contributions including goods but not including services rendered or goods borrowed, up to $75, to a candidate.

  2. For the purposes of this Code, the term “goods borrowed” means any good utilized by a candidate and/or slate at no monetary expense and was returned to the original purchaser after use.

 

Let it be resolved that a new clause within Article XVII. Donations be added that reads, “B. All referendum representatives shall be exempt of this $75 limit.
