Whereas, with greater accessibility that comes with the digital age, a number of government branches, be it federal, state, or local, all provide video or live streams of formal meetings for their constituents for greater transparency,

Whereas, other student government bodies, such as the Associated Students of University of California, Berkeley, have recorded their Senate meetings for greater public accessibility and transparency in the past, [1]

Whereas, complaints of the lack of transparency within the Associated Students, University of California, Irvine have been presented,

Whereas, accountability of all that is said within Senate meetings should be upheld, such that a live stream format could maintain such level of documentation, as other formats such as minutes are meant to serve as a summary of meetings,

Whereas, with greater advancements in technology, video or live streaming is now as accessible and cost effective as utilizing a smartphone device compared to a professional livestream studio setup,

Whereas, a number of individuals may not have the means to access Senate meetings at the place of Woods Cove BC of the Student Center and/or the time of Tuesday and Thursdays from 5pm to 7pm, and that livestreaming allows for active audience engagement during and after livestreams,

Whereas, as senators, we serve as public officials for our respective constituents on the University of California, Irvine campus, thus must conduct ourselves in a public and transparent manner, [2]

Therefore, let it be resolved that the Public Information committee will manage the live-streaming of Senate Meetings,

Therefore, let it be resolved that Senate approves that Senate meetings are to be live-streamed and further be preserved as video for historical accounts.
