Whereas over 40% of UC students are affected by food insecurity and many struggle with housing insecurity [1],

Whereas November 13 - 18, 2017 has been designated as Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week at UCI [2],

Whereas Anteaters in Action is the host for Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week and will organize events intended to “spread the love to our homeless community” [3],

Whereas the SOAR Food Pantry Referendum was passed by students in the 2016 Spring ASUCI Election, showing a consensus for the need to address food security [4],

Whereas the ASUCI Food Security Commission under the Office of the Internal Vice President has implemented measures like Zot Out Hunger to address food insecurity [5],

Whereas the ASUCI Housing Security Commission was formed this year under the Office of the President to raise awareness about student housing insecurity and generate solutions to make housing more accessible and affordable for students, therefore [6],

Let it be resolved that ASUCI will continue contributing to the hosting of Hunger and Homelessness Awareness week as an annual event and expand resources that combat food and housing insecurity among students.
