REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE ASUCI SENATE |

All requests may be typed and submitted to the President of the Senate no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The President of the Senate reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Senate session if the President of the Senate feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full. |

Whereas, the ASUCI Constitution Article 5., Section 2 (c), which reads “Officials appointed to fill a vacancy in an elected position will take office immediately following confirmation and will serve the remaining unexpired portion of the term.” is not clear on who or what body determines the “confirmation” aspect of the clause and,
Whereas, some additional defining on confirmation procedure is needed and,
Whereas, the Judicial Board has requested the Senate clarify their confirmation procedures and,
Let it be resolved that an ASUCI Bylaws Article III. Membership Provisions, Section E. Vacancies and Appointments, Clause 7 be added that reads, “Upon Senate approval of an appointment to a Senate seat, the President of the Senate shall confirm the appointee within one week of the Senate’s vote. The President of the Senate shall notify the appointee of their confirmation and schedule their training, while forwarding their name and information to the ASUCI Professional Staff for processing.” and,
Let it be resolved that the previous Bylaw Article III., Section E., Clause 7 be renumbered to become Clause 8.
