Whereas the ASUCI Constitution Article Six, Section Two, Subsection r gives the Senate the power to, “determine what constitutes an impeachable offense for officers” of ASUCI and,

Whereas the bylaws list only failure to complete required duties as grounds for dismissal and,

Whereas members of the Senate have a responsibility to uphold the office with respect to their position and their constituents and,

Whereas the ASUCI Code of Ethics, “establishes a conduct agreement for all employees, officers, and representatives of the Associated Students of the University of California, Irvine, and will be upheld by both its membership and by all formal authorities who are responsible for reviewing conduct violations in the organization” and is meant to guide the conduct of elected and appointed members of ASUCI and,

Whereas all members of ASUCI should be held accountable in accordance with the ASUCI Code of Ethics and,

Whereas Senators may violate the Code of Ethics without repercussions so long as they complete the duties listed in the by Constitution and,

Whereas the lack of defined impeachable offenses prevents the Senate from taking action when a member abuses their position in accordance with the Code of Ethics and,

Therefore let it be resolved that the ASUCI By-laws Article III, Section b, Subsection 7 be amended to read “Senators found to be in violation of the ASUCI Code of Ethics will be subject to potential dismissal at the discretion of the ASUCI President of the Senate or Chair of the Rules Committee” and,
