Whereas, ASUCI’s job is to represent the student body and,

Whereas, student who uses services from the Disability Student Center (DSC) have to take exams outside of their classrooms and,

Whereas, as currently the DSC doesn’t have enough space to accommodate students to take their midterms and finals and,

Whereas, the School of Information and Computer Sciences (ICS) has been hosting the students for a fee, paid by DSC and,

Whereas, the DSC does not have enough financial support to pay for rented space and,

Whereas, senators during the academic year 2016-2017 requested that the fee be waived on behalf of the DSC and,

Whereas, through these advocacy efforts, the Dean of the School of ICS, Marios C. Papaefthymiou waived the fee for the academic year 2017-2018 and,

Let it be resolved that ASUCI requests that UCI ICS Dean Papaefthymiou to renew the fee waiver to the DSC, for students with disabilities to take exams for the academic year 2018-2019 and,

Let it be resolved that a copy of this legislation be sent to UCI Chancellor Howard Gillman and ICS Dean Papaefthymiou.

All requests may be typed and submitted to the President of the Senate no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The President of the Senate reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Senate session if the President of the Senate feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.
