REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE ASUCI SENATE |

All requests may be typed and submitted to the President of the Senate no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The President of the Senate reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Senate session if the President of the Senate feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full. |

| WHEREAS, Special Committees are created at the request of constituents and/or executives to support the ASUCI Advocacy Agenda, WHEREAS, the nature of Special Committees may involve confidential information, such includes the personal situations of our constituents, long term conversations that test a variety of approaches to an issue before confirming a certain approach that can be then presented to the public, WHEREAS, the ASUCI By-Laws, under Article VI “MEETINGS”, Section F “Attendance”, Subsection II “AGENDA”, lists the format of the Senate meeting agenda, including “4. Special Committee Reports”, WHEREAS, a misinterpretation of this section in conjunction to the neglected responsibility listed under Article VIII “ADVOCACY COMMITTEE”, Section A, Subsection 3(a) “Collecting written reports from each ad-hoc committee chairperson regarding the activities of the committee for the respective week” and Subsection 3(b) “Presenting a report on the state of all the aforementioned committees at the first Senate meeting of each Quarter”, has threatened the privacy of our constituents’ personal struggles and ultimately the degree of confidentiality required in the planning stages of proper advocacy, THEREFORE, let it be resolved that the long precedent of reporting Special Committee Reports at each Senate meeting be dissolved, and that the process laid out in the ASUCI By-Laws be practiced from here on out until any potential or possible amendments are made to the by-laws changing the process of Special Committee reports in the foreseeable future. |
