      • 82 percent of students receive some form of aid including loans

      • Going over eligibility criteria, different types of financial aid, middle class scholarship, questions

      • Mission: to provide resources for us to meet academic goals

      • Use FAFSA to determine aid, deadline in March 2nd

      • Limited amount of money, determine students which have the most aid

      • Gift aid does not have to be paid back, “self-help” is the loans/work study component of financial aid package

      • CCC 12k, CSUs 25k, UCs 31K, 56K at private institutions, etc.

      • Cost of attendance is estimated by survey every few years, not every year due to random fluctuations.

      • Give out surveys and they get a cost of attendance estimate.

      • Eligibility requirements, must be enrolled, pursuing a degree, US citizen or eligible non-citizen, males registered with selective service, and others

      • Sources of aid: Federal Government, State Government, College/University Grants, Private Lenders/Donors (scholarships)

      • Applying for aid: Do your FAFSA by March 2nd and GPA Verification form

      • Some are randomly selected

      • Any continuing student scholarships, should apply for some.

      • Financial aid homepage contains scholarships

      • Pitfalls to avoid: Don’t miss deadlines, especially March 2nd and June 19th for selection of verification forms turned in. Don’t misrepresent yourself, you are automatically selected for verification if you make a correction to your FAFSA. Reapply with the FAFSA every year. Check your email. Don’t ever pay for financial aid assistance, often a scam. Don’t use FAFSA.com. Beware of scholarship scams as well, you should never have to pay for any of them.

      • Cal Grant A + B, Cal Grant B Stipend goes towards living expenses and reduce potential loan options.

      • Middle class scholarship cutoff on income is 150K, by full implementation should cover 40% of systemwide fees, is currently 14%. Going to continue to 20% next year, but maybe not, it might be removed.

      • University Grant (UCI Grant, blue+gold cutoff is 150K)

      • Ariel asked about 3rd party investors, was answered they don’t really hear much about it, but whatever money they get could potentially hurt the aid they get.

      • UC system has sustainable plan for increasing grants, as costs go up, so will the grants.

      • Yusra question about reducing loans in the future, they say no.

      • Brice says goodbye :D bye Brice!
