February 3rd, 2015


  • Called to Order by Sanaa Khan at 5:05PM

  • Attendance

    • President Reza Zomorrodian will be absent (Mesa Court/Housing)

    • Arts Representative John Beneke will be absent (Class)

    • Josh Nguyen (Services VP) and Nikki Kathuria arrived at 5:07PM

    • Jennifer Lima - Food Pantry/Food Security Advisory Committee

      • After discussion last week, we decided not to do our event Week 8 but instead Week 4 Spring Quarter (Food/Hunger Awareness)

      • Wanted to ask Leg council if anyone is interested in joining this project (and the food security advisory committee) to help with events

      • Will be discussing this further in a legislation

      • We need support from our campus if we want to make this happen

      • Negar volunteered to be on the committee

        • Hong: Thank you for all the research, we really appreciate it. Just to clarify what would the purpose of the speakers serve? Where would they be installed?

        • Tsai: They would be installed in the ASUCI Common Space, be used for presentations and what not

  • Executive Officer Reports:

    • Academic Affairs: discussion about affordable care act is coming up. Past discussion was very good, we had 3 speakers, couldn’t go through all our questions because of all the discussion. lots of students were engaged and it was very interactive. ICS Game night coming up as well. AMP Apps are due soon as well

    • Student Services: Buy Soulstice tickets! Big Hero 6 screening coming up as well!

    • Admin Affairs: Anteaters In Action event, adults with autism and their caretakers. Another event coming up to help pull out weed and clean up plants.

  • Special Committee Reports

    • International Student Committee, Parshan: met for first time last week - all members of the board finalized. Will send roster next week. Number of things on agenda that they are planning to work on this week. Some of which include proposal given by state regarding potential tuition freeze for instate but not out-of-state and internationals.

    • Constitutional Revision Committee, Jordan Edmunds: met again yesterday, asking by next week if anyone has any changes they want to make to the constitution to submit it so we can start working on revising and writing them into the constitution. next meeting (and last meeting discussing major changes) - is monday @ 6pm, asuci conference room. further meetings will be talking about actual constitution writing and implementation as well as publicity for the constitutional referendum.

    • Motion to break out into committees for 20 minutes: Kathuria / Lima

      • Working on SPFB & TGIF, JOSC met today will provide updates when decision is made. Apply for JBoard!

    • Public Info

      • Will be working on publicity for Leg council elections upcoming spring, will also work on council retreat

    • Finance

      • Approved B50-06 unanimously, Approved B50-08 with revisions unanimously

    • Advocacy

      • talking about the international student committee and composition

  • School Breakouts

    • for 10 minutes: Lima/Tsai

  • B50-08 pulled to floor by Phan/Tsai

    • 2 minute discussion - Phan/Tsai

    • Tsai: per our guidelines, bill can be in finance for at most a week - finanace approved unanimously and thats how we’re here

    • Louie: revisions included added expectation that furniture will last at least 7 years (don’t buy furniture for the next 1-2 years if you don’t need it/don’t like current furniture). if we’re going to spend money from reserves to last. we just want a copy of receipts sent to finance committee so we can look at everything and ensure everything is in order.
