·         Guest List

·         Extended Public Comment  (Several comments are without name because the speaker failed to identify themselves or did not do so clearly)

o    : Facebook page with club information about student political groups. The group was host to many off color jokes and offensive hashtags. Making jokes about this sort of topic is not appropriate and

o    Hayden (President of the Muslim student Union): The statements referenced in the comment linked here.)

o    Rahim & Celine:

o    : (Business Student): I am appalled that you are representing the Paul Mirage School of Business.

o    Ali: (ASUCI Office of Student Services) I don’t think you are fit to be a representative student leader

o    Mohammad: (Member of Muslim Student Union): Other defamatory comments involving black students were on the comment thread.

o    Nick: (AGS) I am surprised that it got so far. This was a private comment on a private Facebook page that was accidentally made public.

o    Marwa: In a case where there are people dying everyday there is no place for jokes.

o    : Hate speech does come with consequences. It has an impact on the people speech addresses. I was told that I just need thicker skin. We don’t think that the precedent set by this is acceptable.

o    Nick (AGS): We heard that political correctness does not cause violence but

o    Khosravi: I apologize for the comment we just heard. I am going to ask this. Is it right to think in such a bigoted way?

o    Mayer (ASUCI): As someone who has faced discrimination based on religion this is shocking, offensive, and annoying and I am not happy having to sit at a teble with such a person.

o    Hayden: I know there are ways of removing someone from counsel and I really don’t think its acceptable to have these sor of ideologies on campus

o    Hadi: (Senior at University High School): I have applied to a number of colleges and if someone like this represents students I would question coming to that school.

o    :I want to step away from specific instances and just encourage a dialogue to discuss, address, and ultimately eliminate this sort of hate speech.

o    Maram: (4th year Engineering Student): As an engineer I hardly have time to get involved and I hope that council represents me as a student. I find that that does not always seem to be the case. I have serious concerns about this and I feel less safe hearing these comments. So I just want an apology.

o    Kalida Sidney (Former humanities rep): I want to say that this sort of speech can and does cause violence so this should be taken seriously. Your words do matter.

o    Maram: I decided I don’t want an apology I just want you to leave leg council. And I want to say nothing exists in a vacuum, everything said has an impact.

o    George: After hearing all the comments I would like to apologize. I maintain that this was a poor attempt at a joke and understand that there was some very gruesome language. However, I will not resign and if council would like to impeach me then that will be the case. Again

o    Marwa (journalism major): I know I don’t represent all the people here but I appreciate your apology but I would like to see some action to learn about the Muslim community and in addition to you resignation I would like to see additional action.

o    Huda: I do not accept your apology that was made in the face of opposition, it seems to be a fake apology.
