    • Senator Aldoghmi arrived late at 5:12.

    • President: Executive officers doing Judicial Board interviews and have no other announcements.

    • Hong: Move into Discussion of How to Write a Legislation. 5:12

§  Hong: Two basic parts of legislation, “where as” and “let it be resolved.” “Where as” is the “why” and “let it be resolved” is the “how.” Senators have until Monday night to submit legislation for Thursday meetings and until Thursday night for Tuesday meetings.

§  Judge Lee: Be careful when writing the legislation and to read it through for grammar, date errors, continuity, and fact mistakes.

§  Baranwal: Motion to add five minutes to discussion /Second: Orozco

§  Executive Director of ASUCI Senate: Keep in mind the permanence of your legislation.

    • Hong: Move into discussion of R52-02 Appointment of Internal Deputy Student Advocate General 5:24

§  Bender: Reading of the description of position of Internal SAG.

§  Baranwal: Motion to open discussion for ten minutes/ Second: Tompkins 5:28

§  Hong: Call into question R52-02

§  R52-02 Passes 12-0-0. Yea: Chavez, Natoolo, Lu, Bender, Orozco, Trinh, Miller, Tompkins, Lee, Aldoghmi, Abdelrahman, Noureldine.  

    • Bender: Commit R52-03 (Appointment of External Deputy Student Advocate General) to Rules/ Second: Orozco
    • Hong: Move into discussion of Appointment of Deputy Elections Commissioners 5:35

§  Bender: Reading of the description of position of Elections Commissioners

§  Hong: Call into question R52-04

§  R52-04 Passes 12-0-0. Yea: Chavez, Natoolo, Lu, Bender, Orozco, Trinh, Miller, Tompkins, Lee, Aldoghmi, Abdelrahman, Noureldine.

·       Hong: Motion to go into discussion of Appointment of Senate Secretary

§  Bender: Reading of the description of the positon of Senate Secretary.

§  Hong: Call into question R52-05

·       Hong: Move into discussion of Tips on Being an Effective Senator 5:42

§  Tips on how governments run, studying politicians, senator accountability, dealing with constituents.

  • Senate Intern Program Report
    • Sandy: We will be conducting interviews on Thursday and Friday and should have candidates selected by Monday.

  • Orozco: Motion to go into committee break outs for 20 minutes/ Second: Trinh. 5:52
  • Hong: If a senator does not have a committee yet, come see me.

      • Tompkins: We will be writing legislations to update By-Laws.

      • Bender: The Public Information Committee has invited the public to all future senate meetings via social media outreach.

      • Abdelrahman: We will be sending out emails to clubs on campus, ie: MSU, BSU, and mainly groups in the cross cultural center.

·       Hong: This past Saturday we had the All ASUCI Meeting. It went really well. All the senators that went had a great time.
