Our External VP posted the demands for a sanctuary campus yesterday signed by all of the executive cabinet. Not on behalf of ASUCI, but on behalf of the cabinet. Homecoming is going well. We need more help with applicants. Soulstice is going on well. Check it out in March. The workshop applications for UC Women’s leadership caucus was extended.

    • R52-37: Appointment of the President Pro-Tempore of the Senate

§  Orozco reads leg

§  Trinh: Motion to call R52-37 into question/ Second: Jacoby

§  Motion Passes, 7-0-0, Yea: Lu, Jacoby, Castillejos, Trinh, Bender, Hassane, Orozco  5:18

    • Discussion about Wellness Building by La 5:18

§  La: I know we have all heard about this. But we should discuss senate’s priorities. I want to provide them with a list of what students wanted. I wanted to start with senate. I would like to know what you think and what your priorities are. I’d like a list of what you would like to go in based on what you prioritize the most to the least 10 items. Options are care, campus social workers, counseling center, disability service center, student health center, veteran’s services, food pantry, soar, student wellness and health promotion, etc. Possible centers that could go into the building. Take a few days to figure out and please send to me by Tuesday.

§  Lu: Since we only vote on ten, does that mean the ones we don’t vote on don’t get a space?

§  La: They may not get a space. We want to know what students prioritize first.

§  Orozco: Are you reaching out to all students or should we reach out to our own schools?

§  La: That would be great. I’m starting here but you can definitely do that. Would be great.

§  Bender: Dan gave the presentation on what they are already deciding on? Will this change that?

§  La: There is nothing definitive. I want them to have this list. Right now they only have an inkling of an idea of what we want.

§  Castillejos: Do we know how much space there is?

§  La: I believe it is in the presentation. We can find it out.

§  Natoolo: There is a lot of space available and there will be space made available in the student center after these organizations get moved over to the new building. Especially with the vacated space.

§  La: We want the referendum to include a student advisory committee on what goes where. We want it to pass with student input.

§  Lu: Is this the only discussion we will have?

§  La: What I learned is that it’s based on the contractor or architect. We can say what we want but we don’t have so much say on where things go and how much space they get.

§  Castillejos: Would it be a good idea to get signatures/a petition to ensure a certain resource is there?

§  La: Might be easier to have one vote from senate. Please send this through email after meeting on Tuesday night. Thankyou.

    • Discussion about SPFB- Committee Chairs to attend weekly meetings 5:29

§  La: When we don’t make quorum clubs that come in don’t actually get to be voted on. SPFB has 110k dollars. This is a way of ASUCI giving back money straight into the clubs. It’s stated that the chairs must be there in the by-laws. We only need 4-5 per meeting. Sometimes they end early. We need people there to vote and make an impact on funding these events.

§  Baranwal: If chairs can’t make it to the meeting there is a possibility of proxy voting. You can send your vice chair. But it can only be senators.

§  Natoolo: It’s every Wednesday. Not every day. You can switch off

§  Orozco: Right now committees are very small. So it is hard to make the meetings.

§  Natoolo: We will be getting new senators and we will figure this out. I will send out an email.
