    • Guidelines to Legislation Writing by Judicial Board

      • What does a piece of legislation email?

        • It should read like a single sentence

      • Substantive Clauses

        • Call attention to an existing situation or issue CAN NOT enact change

      • Important Example of Legislation: R52-62

        • Provides example of severable legislation;

          • Example: where only a part is struck down as constitutional

        • The case provides a description of how the impeachment process works under the relatively new Constitution

      • Important example R52-67

        • “Therefore let it be resolved that, ASUCI arranges for the extension of Gateway Study Center hour to 24 hours every week starting first week of every quarter till finals”

          • effectively does nothing

          • “Arranges” doesn’t effectively mean anything in this sentence

      • More bad examples: R52-76 Providing campus Maps in different languages

        • There are more and more international students coming into UCI every year, and the majority of UCI information are in english

        • there are at least 5 different speaking languages that students speak here at UCI and the majority of what UCI posts are in english.

        • What got you involved?

          • Got involved in high school and helped with budgeting cuts.  

        • If given unlimited budget in 24 hours how would you spend it?

          • Focus on all 5 of branches at ASUCI and spread them effectively.

        • See any potential challenges coming in the next year? What would identify those challenges are? What hurdles do you think you might have?

          • Try to increase connection with everyone

          • Would want to work with to the ASUCI groups as one group and want to communicate with them.

        • What makes you effective?

          • Has had past experience doing AS- in high school.

          • Willing to go out of his way to do well and make a difference.

          • Being open to people's concern and their problems.

        • Qualities?

          • Have a lot of communication skills.

          • Wants to use his communication skills when in meetings.

          • Will ask good questions in meetings.

        • What are you planning to do differently than others?

          • Collaborate together. Would want to have a final say in group meetings. Bring the group as one.
