  • Public Comment

    • Zoey:

      • We are here to talk about the students, healthcare and security. They call workers off anytime they want at work. The workers at UCI are getting paid too much. On this day Feb 1 by delivering internal information about security career growth we are asking him to do something about this. They put their lives on the line responsible for showing up and supporting them. Important for student body to know about so they can do their part in helping.

    • Message: Was sustained and brutalized at UC berkeley this case we will be doing follow ups to make sure workers are getting the support he needs.

  • Executive Officer Reports

    • President Lydia:

      • We did our reports last week.

      • Inviting us to be part of an events coming up in a couple of weeks. Called UCI gets ideas. there are only 5 spots so if you want to be part of it please let me know soon.

        • President wants to come here and present.

      • Talking to the public: It should be our work what is it that we need and can we come up with the ideas

    • Academic VP: Danishgar

    • Internal VP: Brittany

      • Not many new updates

      • Currently working on updating our section on the websites because websites are pretty outdated.

    • EVP:

      • Working on march 21st-26st to taking 44 students to sacramento. The applications are open till feb 20th.

        • publicizing application on social media.

    • Anteaters for Animals: Discussion Regarding SeaWorld Ticket Sales (5:29pm)

      • Discussion

        • Discontinue the sales of these tickets

        • seaworld is a company who doesn't treat whales and dolphins respectfully. Several have died from illnesses

        • Facts about seaworld

          • trainers are required to have marine biology degrees and then tey can go and become trainers.

          • 3Some trainers have died from interacting with these whales

          • they are forced to perform tricks that are unnatural and should not be traveling their bodies aren't supposed to in spaces like that

          • they just leave them in

        • There are other animals

          • they don't have a voice

          • anytime we are spending money for tickets we are supporting these actions

        • Documentary to understand health consequences for these animals

          • asking members of the senate to withdraw these tickets

        • Sea world band the reproduction of orcas in 2016

          • we are wondering asuci has any information for us

        • Boparai:

          • we will have a discussion with the senators

          • tickets operate different from this time I don’t know if senate can operate with ticketing we will have to look into this situation what exactly what we.

        • What was you involvement with this legislation R51-88

          • Because what i see is that when they stopped and band the reproduction of orcas. UCI brought back the tickets of seaworld.

          • Now that we are active again we are trying to make this happen. I don't think yha we were aware of that. There were photos of UCI in newspaper bringing back.

          • Thank you so much for the work you are doing. I want to bring this forward we will be talking about this in senate, but there are some things that we cannot do as senate but there are other places and people on campus who might know or be part of this. We still have power but some things we cannot do.

          • We will work on what we can do about the things that we aren’t always able to do like how we can be part in it.

          • I want to clarify is it that you want to stop the resale of sea world tickets is it because of captivity.

        • Public:

          • The goal is to bring to point all of the it kind of hard to put it all in one captivity, the ENTIRE just idea of this is the point.

        • Lim:

          • Does anyone know who has the power to take this away, does anyone know?

            • Boparai: It’s either administration

          • Thank you so much for coming out here, I would love to meet with you and work with what we can do about this. We will do some research and see what we can do about this and how we can help you guys.

      • Conversation regarding senate social

        • Everyone can go and have a very relaxing time, because a lot of people don't know each other's names

          • Lim: I agree that most of us don't know everyone by name and i think its

          • Wan: Is anyone against it?

            • Boparai:

              • I feel like we spent a good amount of money on those jackets

          • Lim:

            • I have been talking to others and they do $20 per person for apparel. Also i fee

          • Jess:

            • A lot of people have ideas in senate and they don’t know who to talk to about those ideas

          • Lydia:

            • I want to encourage you money is nothing and you guys do the most work, what happens here you are pretty much giving people power. I think you guys should take a break. Senators should have that time to themselves.

          • Murad:

            • I was going to say free food people are more inclined to go to these things.

          • Lim:

            • Who will be planning this would it be public info?

          • Jess:

            • We are having this discussion so we can get these ideas and have the time.

          • Murad:

            • I think the best time is 7pm after senate

          • Boparai:

            • Last time i was in the president seat I should have done an introduction before i seat. I like to gain success more on progress than achievement. The funnest time was when office of ASUCI was when met and got to hangout with the office at ASUCI.

          • Lydia:

            • Don’t worry about the money and you and senate have money and so you don’t pay for you meals. Rather everyone show up and there is a cap of money that you can spend.

          • Hong:

            • We should still be holding ourselves to reasonable standards. K-bbq is reasonable.

          • Boparai: I would like for us to move on, but public info to start working on this and give us a date and time.

  • Council Intern Program Report

    • We had our first meeting and we talked about progress for advocacy committee and we are going to get things done. We wrote an open letter to the senate and please please take the time to read it.

      • Boparai: I just wanna say it has to be one of the most beautiful meetings I’e seen in a long time.

      • We decided $15 per person was pretty fair. So we decided that we should go to souplantation.

          • We are going to put a list of 4 places people and you guys can vote which places you want.

    • Advocacy

      • We had idea for appreciation for staff and because there are so many people who come and do work for us. So put the face and the name so people would know who we are appreciating.

        • Gurneel: If we can get those on a legislation soon.

        • Zainab: Do you want everyone who is on the committee?

    • Hong:

      • Impeachment: was yesterday from 7-9pm all of us had presented our case to the best of our ability. I am also sorry we had to impeachment a senator she is a good model of how not to be.

    • Murad:

      • We included all the evidence we had, video, time stamps etc. They were very interested and thoughtful of our impeachment argument. Hopefully j-board will give us an update.

        • Gurneel:

          • I think this was very important. And I do want to apologize to any of our constituents and anyone who was affected by her actions. Senate does not support her actions. I do apologize anyone who was impacted.

          • I should have introduced myself and I am trying to get used to where and when not to get implied. I want to adress is communication and i know i haven't been communicating, so if you are trying to talk to me just let me know “Gurneel are you writing this” I usually keep a
